Dana Kandalaft is the founder of the NFP organization Tight Knit Syria, which she started after a spontaneous trip into northern Syria. Dana's parents moved from Syria to Canada in 1990 where she was born and raised. Tight Knit Syria contributes to a solution to the refugee crisis in Syria while staying connected to her parents' homeland. Whether she is in the Middle East or in Canada, or anywhere in the world, her focus is to help build community, contribute to a sustainable future, and help create an economic bridge for women in refugee camps. We discuss:
Summer trips to Syria as a child
Bridging the gap between Canada and Syria
Providing income opportunities to 25 women that live in a Lebanese Refugee camp
Facilitating business opportunities, teaching computer literacy and transferrable life skills
The Lebanese explosion and the impact on the refugee camp
