Soon after she was preparing to deploy with her unit. While at MOB site, she injured her back pretty badly and she was sent back home.   She was a bit lost when she returned home trying to figure out what she wanted to do. One thing she knew for sure, she wanted to get back into uniform. She began by looking for active guard positions throughout the nation and stumbled across a Weapons of Mass Destruction team in Northern California in 2013. Alyssa Quinn - Long Distance Drill Weekends After 4 years, Alyssa voluntarily resigned to with the intent of continuing her education. But it got a bit messy at first.   Initially, her plan was to move to North Carolina and she did an inter-state transfer. On her terminal leave she drove home from California to Iowa. While she was at home she realized she needed to take a couple of college classes and enrolled in a community college for the semester. All the while she was commuting to North Carolina to report for drill weekends! Guard to Entrepreneur At some point during this time, she had the idea for her app and while in school really started to pursue it. She had found something she was truly passionate about and wanted to pursue. Everything else seemed to go by the wayside.   While in her transition period she was was finding ways to occupy her time. She began by creating dating profiles on some dating apps. She was looking for some friends to match up with. Any time she would match with civilians they would ask her questions she was not comfortable with.   Anytime she found a vet near her, she felt like she had struck gold. She knew she could connect with them on a social basis to grab a beer, or work out, or play pool because they got it. They were coming from the same background.   Download and listen to Alyssa Quinn High Caliber Community to learn her story and how you can get involved.   Don’t forget to leave us a 5-star rating and review if you enjoyed the show.
