In\xa0response to federal legislation about national security and immigration, the USCIS expanded the Moral Character, Acts of Violence, and Crime sections of the N-400 in\xa02014. \xa0This action was taken to safe guard the basic rights of all those living in America, and to have legal recourse if a legal permanent resident or new citizen was found to have engaged in past violent crimes.
