As 2021 draws to a close, diesel and gasoline prices are declining, but still running about a dollar a gallon more than a year ago. In the latest report from the Energy Information Administration, the national average for a gallon of trucking\u2019s main fuel sits at $3.615 a gallon. The price has fallen for six consecutive weeks for a total of 11.9 cents a gallon over that span. But it\u2019s still 98 cents a gallon more than a year ago. And while gasoline also is trending downward, its national average is at $3.275, which is $1.032 a gallon more than a year ago. EIA said 2021 oil production averaged 11.1 million barrels per day through November, about 1.2 million barrels below 2019\u2019s 12.3 million figure.
