Special Guest: Danny McColl - Founder
In this episode I welcomed Danny McColl, founder of McColl's Brewery in north-east England, to talk about their latest, exciting Rioja Barrel Aged series. All three are beers in their own right at the brewery so we explored their origins story as well as delving into what the Rioja barrel has done to them! The beers:
- The Lady in Red - 5.7% Rioja Barrel Aged Best Bitter
- Beets Rouge - 7.7% Rioja Barrel Aged Beet de Garde
- Red Yeti - 12.2% Rioja Barrel Aged Botanical Belgian Quadrupel
Danny's "Ultimate Bar" was definitely a boozy one! We discussed, mainly, continental beers, with big malt profiles and I for one would enter and leave this bar very happy!
We end the episode how all episodes end, every guest must pick a set of songs to enter the Time for a Brew Playlist. We very nearly had East 17 and Pharrell Williams in, but Danny settled for some slightly better choices.
