Jeff and Josh haven’t been dating long. They are still in that wonderful honeymoon stage where the excitement of their new relationship gives each a forgiving view of the other, a very forgiving view of the other, perhaps a too forgiving view of the other. What will later give rise to an altercation, or perhaps a dish-breaking fight, is now shrugged off as just another adorable quirk. Adorable. How adorable the other is.

Adorable.

For instance, whenever Josh orders seafood, Jeff makes the horrific joke that he is also on a see food diet. “When I see food, I eat it,” Jeff said.

Then Jeff laughs. He laughs and he laughs and he laughs, every time, every time, as though this time was the first time he has ever told that joke, indeed, he laughs as though this was the first time this joke has ever been told, as though Jeff himself is this joke’s creator. Which of course Jeff is not. Jeff could never come up with a joke like that. Jeff is not very funny.
