Alan George is a San Francisco-based photographer who came\\nto photography not through the halls of higher learning or by becoming enamored\\nwith photography as a child or as an artist in another medium who discovers\\nphotography as their "true\\u201d medium but rather, as someone who used a camera in\\nmuch the same way as most people do, to record life\'s events . . . in other\\nwords, he was a snap-shooter.
\\n\\n\\nIn 2003 photography became a more central part of Alan"s\\nlife, a way of exploring the social landscape.\\xa0\\xa0 The process of searching, selecting and examining\\nsomething that would otherwise go unnoticed helped him to feel more conscious,\\nmore aware, more engaged, more alive.
