Being "authentic" is a popular request in today's world.  I think this word is often confused with "sharing your inner thoughts and feelings with everyone".  According to www.mindtools.com "authenticity" means you are true to your own personality, values, and spirit, regardless of the pressure that you are under to act otherwise.
