Jon talks with Tony Comperchio, Chairman & Founder at Professional Golf Planners of America, about networking and planning the ultimate golf outing in 2021.

As a former athlete, Professional Golf Planners of America (PGPA) CEO, Chairman and Founder Tony Comperchio knows the value of teamwork, passion, and problem solving. He brings all of those qualities and more to PGPA, while helping charities, businesses and private groups make the most out of their golf outing experiences.

It all began when Comperchio was asked to help organize his clients annual golf outing which supported a local non-profit charity. Working as a supplier for a Fortune 500 company, the golf outing invitations were in no short supply and soon Comperchio was recruited to serve as Co-Chairman on the golf outing committee for the GM Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation local chapter. He threw himself into the work and earned recognition as the event’s top individual fundraiser many years in a row. On the course and behind the scenes, Comperchio witnessed firsthand how golf outings bring people together, build teams, and transform a nonprofit’s bottom line.

Seeing these outings in action and contributing to their successes helped Comperchio realize there was more that he could do to take these events to another level – and the vision for PGPA was born. “All of life’s journey pushes us in certain direction,” he says.

Launched in 2016, Professional Golf Planners of America continues to expand its client base, services and mission while maintaining Comperchio’s original goal of helping others. He has built an experienced team of Certified Professionals who work closely with clients to make each golf outing easier and unique. At the same time, PGPA hosts its own outings that support a growing number of national and local nonprofit organizations, including NLEOMF; a Washington, D.C. based non-profit, the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund is dedicated to telling the story of American Law Enforcement and making it safer for those who serve, and Shades of Pink Foundation, which assists local breast cancer patients and survivors.

This year, as the pandemic has changed just about every facet of life, Comperchio and his team have introduced two important new services: a golf course staffing solution, helping golf courses and clubs ensure they have talented, experienced staff to serve their members and guests, and indoor golf simulator tournaments, providing Michigan’s avid golfers with a year-round PGPA golf experience.

Always thinking and always moving, Comperchio continues to build the PGPA brand while pioneering new elements of the golf outing experience. At the same time, he will continue to use his positive attitude to enrich the game and communities he loves, each and every day.
