In this episode of The Thoughtful Entrepreneur, your host Josh Elledge talks with Doug Noll, a former attorney and an executive consultant coach.

As a lawyer, Doug Noll shares his experiences of exposure to the world\'s most notorious people. Yet from these experiences, he discovered the secret sauce to resolving human conflict \\u2013 the ability to listen through emotions. According to him, what he discovered in 2005 is unlike any other theory once taught in homes and classrooms. Through years of research and experimentation, Doug Noll discovered that humans are primarily emotional beings and that 90% of what we communicate is based on emotions. When conflicts arise, validation of emotions is important, which can be achieved through listening.

Doug has had years and years of research, studying different theories and teachings about listening in relation to conflict resolution and found that none of them are true. He developed a process in which this skill can be easily learned, which he urged people to take an interest in. Doug said that in as little as 46 weeks, people can master the skills, which he says would be life changing.

Since then, Doug has practiced and applied the skill in many different settings, including prisons, businesses, organizations, and even conventions. He points out that listening to someone\'s emotions can transform people into powerful peacemakers. Doug considers it a fundamental life skill. He added that no matter how intense the situation, it is possible to instantly calm people down and achieve resolution when the right listening skills are applied.
