The Sophisticated Lady: A Tribute to Phyllis Hyman

What can I say about Phyllis Linda Hyman that hasn’t been said before? I’ll just speak from the heart. This is a lady that I have admired ever since I was a child. I used to pick up her albums and be overwhelmed by her beauty and her grace. When I would put my headphones and listen to her Living All Alone album, I would allow her words to take me to another time and space. Phyllis is synonymous with the word sophisticated and even that word isn’t enough to capture the essence of who she is/was. On what would’ve been Phyllis' 65th birthday, I wanted to honor in the best way that I knew how and that was with this fantastic tribute show. On this episode of The Soul Brother Show – The Home of Heavy Soul and Raw Funk, it’s all about the music, life, and legacy of this incomparable entertainer. Allow these songs to remind you of the first time you heard them and where you were when you felt the power of Phyllis’ vocals. For those of you who may be unfamiliar, you too are in for a treat. As always, sit back, relax, and enjoy!
