He has inspired me in so many ways. It was truly an honor to have him as my 250th guest for this very special live recording. For those unfamiliar, Peter Tunney is a legitimate force of nature with boundless creative energy, spreading his positive messages in unconventional ways and delivering works of art to a worldwide collector base. He creates in almost every medium: paint, collage, wood, photography, found objects, and discarded materials. His nontraditional life, a cache of extraordinary experiences, and countless wild adventures are the foundations for his work. Tunney has owned and operated ground-floor studios and galleries in lower Manhattan for the last 30 years. For the last eight years, he has also maintained a gallery in the heart of Miami’s famed Wynwood Walls. Over the years, Peter has spent tireless human energy and donated countless works of art to deserving organizations. Most recently, his main philanthropic efforts have been devoted to criminal justice reform, supporting wrongfully convicted individuals, and ending the stigma of mental illness. Tunney happily lives and works between New York and Miami with his wife Amy, their 6-year-old son Arthur – affectionately known as “Art” – and their 3-year-old daughter named “Sonnet”. It’s a choice.” Peter reflects on managing expectations in art and life. The Bank O’ The Future is a manifestation of a 30-year dream for Peter, where he breaks down his fascination with money, specifically with counterfeiters. The Bank O’ The Future is an artistic expression of some of those conclusions. Inside The Bank O’ The Future, Peter has commissioned an oil painting replica of a Van Gogh painting that pictures a street corner and apartment building in which he lived. He loves that expression of that portion of his life. One change that Peter has made in his artistic creation since having kids is to make more positive work. He does this so that his legacy leaves more positive reflections about life for his kids. Peter talks about his relationship with Alan Brown, the Director of New Partner Engagement for the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, who was paralyzed in a freak accident when he was 26 years old. Alan has inspired Peter with massive amounts of hopes and perseverance through any difficult circumstance.
