Her poems have appeared in Crazyhorse, Denver Quarterly, Gulf Coast, New Orleans Review, and elsewhere. She is the poetry editor at Guernica Magazine as well as a former editorial board member of Alice James Books. Her debut crime novel, The Red Chameleon (Pegasus Books), was one of O: The Oprah Magazine's Best Books of the Summer in 2014.
