Coming of Age\\xa0is a Philadelphia-based\\xa0national initiative\\xa0that was created in 2002 to help people age 50+ explore their futures, promote 50+ connection and contribution, and build stronger non-profits and communities. We currently have initiatives in\\xa0Philadelphia,\\xa0Delaware,San Francisco Bay Area,\\xa0Kansas City, MO, Austin, TX, and Central PA.\\xa0 Initiatives in additional communities will be established in the near future.

- Dick Goldberg, Director of\\xa0Coming of Age
\\ufeffDick is director of both the Philadelphia initiative and the national network of\\xa0Coming of Age.\\xa0During his tenure as director,\\xa0Coming of Age\\xa0has grown from a Philadelphia project to one being replicated throughout the country.
\\nDick\'s background includes work as a writer, producer and community volunteer. Because of his successfully pursuing an encore career after age 50 (becoming director ofComing of Age), he was named one of eighteen 2010\\xa0Wells Fargo Second Half Champions.
\\nHe served as the producer of The National Jewish Theatre and Stage South, the state theatre of South Carolina; he wrote the off-Broadway drama\\xa0Family Business, which ran in New York for over a year and in regional theatres throughout the country, and was the basis for his becoming a Guggenheim Fellow.
\\nDick authored episodes of the TV series\\xa0Kate and Allie\\xa0and\\xa0MacGyver;\\xa0wrote the feature filmThe Imagemaker, starring Jerry Orhach and Farley Granger; and the Franklin Institute Omnimax film\\xa0Philadelphia Anthem. He has also written book and restaurant reviews for\\xa0The New York Times\\xa0andThe Philadelphia Inquirer.
\\nRegarding local nonprofit volunteering, Dick served as President of the Board of the Eastern Pennsylvania chapter of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society from 2000 to 2002. From 2002 to 2004, he was Board Chair of Planned Parenthood Southeast Pennsylvania Advocates and has served on the Eastern Pennsylvania Regional Board of the Anti-Defamation League for the past 9 years. In 2010, he joined the Board of the Philadelphia Corporation for Aging.
\\nDick holds B.A. and M.F.A. degrees from Brandeis University, where he also taught in the graduate school.
