There will be plenty of Madness over the next few weeks. Here to detail all of it with high octane energy and full of passion is none other than yours truly as we'll take this sports trip together through the neighborhood. On deck: (2:53) For starters, I'll look back on the three year anniversary of how the coronavirus brought the world to a complete halt. Not only what it did to us, but the sports world as well. (4:43) The wild, crazy and frantic three plus weeks of college basketball that just about everyone looks forward to is almost here. The two words that are synonymous with the NCAA Tournament. March Madness. It begins tomorrow night as the First Four will kick off with two games and then two games on Wednesday before sixteen games on Thursday and Friday. That's where the Madness will ensue as I'll get into all of the juicy storylines that the tournament has to offer. The four #1 seeds (i.e. Alabama, Houston, Kansas & Purdue) I'll go through all four brackets. Who could be a sleeper coming out of a region? I'll delve into it all and save my Final Four and National Champion until Thursday's podcast, but you'll have your fill on everything surrounding this wide open tournament. I'll also discuss the possibility of Rick Pitino being the next coach of St. John's. And who may fill in for Patrick Ewing who was shown the door down at Georgetown? (35:38) The NBA will take a backseat to March Madness (I'll explain), but the Suns and their fans can exhale as Kevin Durant won't be out longer than originally thought as he'll be on the sideline for 2-3 weeks. What about Luka Doncic? His left thigh is acting up again. They're currently tied for seventh in the West. Why I feel it's important for them to be in the top six and avoid the play-in tournament altogether? The Nuggets have hit the skids here as their lead in the West has shrunk a bit. Should there be a concern in the Mile High City? (42:41) The NHL's Eastern Conference Wild Card race could be hotly contested as we're down to the final 14-16 games or so, with several teams jockeying for position. I'll circle around the rink to peruse the latest and greatest on ice as we're about a month away from the season concluding. (48:59) Football fans! It's about that time for the NFL free agent frenzy to commence. There's been a couple of big moves over the weekend. The Panthers have traded up from #9 to #1 overall as they sent a handsome package to the Chicago Bears which'll include Carolina's second round pick this year, first rounder next year and second rounder in 2025. What direction will the Panthers go in securing their franchise quarterback? The Rams had to purge some salary as they shipped former All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey to Miami for a third rounder and tight end, Hunter Long. Does this position them as a threat in the AFC? Former Patriots safety Devin McCourty calls it a career after 13 years and three Super Bowl wins. And Otis Taylor, former Chiefs WR dating back to Super Bowl IV, died at the age of 80. (54:03) The World Baseball Classic is well underway. The USA team regroups after losing to Mexico over the weekend. The main storyline over the past few days has been the health of the Yankees, in particular their starting rotation. What does this mean for the Bombers as they still have two and a half weeks before Opening Day? Did you see that outrageous strike call by the home plate umpire in a college baseball game over the weekend? All I can say is WOW! It's beyond anything you'll EVER see when it comes to calling balls and strikes.
