The Old Licking County Jail in Newark, Ohio, was built in 1889 and resembles the Tower of London\'s impressive castle-like architecture. With nearly 100 years as a jail and over 20 deaths within its walls, it\'s no surprise that legends of hauntings circulate around the Old Licking County Jail. Disembodied voices have been reported regularly in the cellblocks, ranging from whispering into people\'s ears to loud echoing bellows audible throughout the halls. Visitors have reported strange sounds, apparitions, and cold areas. They\'ve also heard loud hammering and tapping noises. Some claim to have heard screams and cries for help.
