LEGENDS: The Color Purple Movie (1985)
We got one more week in Black History Month and today we would like to kick off our Legends series with a movie that all black people can quote from, word for word... sure, a white guy directed it (Spielburg), but all praise belong to Alice Walker for her penmanship! This movie was extremely controversial and it was even boycotted in 1985 at its release, black people just didn't want the world thinking this is how we ALL are. I will surely play many of our favorite scenes in sound bytes and also I will be sampling songs from the Master himself, the Great Quincy Jones! So sit back, relax and I suggest you grab some tissue... and wait for your favorite scene.
