#50: Scouts
The\xa0Boy Scouts didn't just\xa0discriminate against gay scouts and leaders. They\xa0insisted\xa0on discriminating. They required local troops to discriminate. They\xa0fought a legal battle, all the way to the Supreme Court of the United States, to defend their policy of discrimination. Nothing, it seemed, could move them.\xa0
And yet, somehow: next week, something will happen that\xa0the scouts' national leadership long\xa0insisted would never occur...\xa0the\xa0Boy Scouts of America will hold a national vote on whether\xa0to welcome gay\xa0members.
How did\xa0that\xa0happen? The answer, as it so often is, is that the change took a fight.
