A Look Back: How Tony Sirico Protected Robert Iler On The Set Of The Sopranos

Published: Nov. 5, 2022, 9:30 a.m.

Tony Sirico not only played a tough talking wiseguy on TV, that was his actual life for a period of time. So, when you're a kid on a Hollywood set, it goes a long way to have that kind of ally, especially considering what we all know about Hollywood and the sickos who inhabit it. That's exactly what Robert Iler had in Tony Sirico, who played the character Paulie Walnuts on the Sopranos. Sirico told Iler early on that if ANYONE bothers him (Iler) while they're on set, to come and tell him and he will take care of it. My conclusion? We need a lot more Paulie Walnuts type guys in Hollywood and a lot less like Weinstein.
