Scientists or politicians: who should be leading the response to COVID-19?

When should the response to COVID-19 be led by politicians elected to set public policy, and when should it be led by the doctors who understand the science behind the virus? To discuss how the pandemic has pitted science against politics in the eyes of the public, we hear from Stephen Meek, director of the Institute for Policy and Engagement at the University of Nottingham; Dr. Jim Talbot, former chief medical officer of health for Alberta; and Heidi Tworek, associate professor of international history and public policy at the University of British Columbia.
