Calls for better ventilation to reduce COVID-19 risk in schools
As winter weather sets in, some schools without mechanical ventilation are trying to lower the risk of COVID-19 transmission by keeping windows open and telling students to wrap up warm. We talk to Joe Ortona, chair of the English Montreal School Board, which has bought 800 air purifiers for its classrooms; Krista Wylie, co-founder of Fix Our Schools, who says issues with school buildings predate the pandemic; and Jeffrey Siegel, professor of civil engineering at the University of Toronto.
