One hundred years and one day after the ratification of the 19th Amendment,Martha S. Jones, legal and cultural historian at Johns Hopkins University and the author of Vanguard: How Black Women Broke Barriers, Won the Vote, and Insisted on Equality for All (Basic Books, 2020), tells the story of Black women's fight for the vote, still going today against voter suppression efforts.
