On today's 'BradCast':\xa0 Every bad disaster movie begins with a scientist's warnings being ignored. In California's Gubernatorial Recall election, voting is underway with Election Day on Sept. 14, but California Sec. of State Dr. Shirley Weber so far appears to be ignoring the warnings from some of the nation's top cybersecurity scientists and voting system experts. Eight experts have warned the state of 'critical new risks' to the recall election itself after the theft and public release of Election Management System (EMS) software made by Dominion Voting Systems, which are used in nearly 60 percent of California voting jurisdictions. The experts have advised CA Sec. of State to immediately mandate a statewide, post-election Risk-Limiting Audit (RLA), conducted in public with full transparency by experienced, recognized professional election auditors, as the 'one critical action' that Sec. Weber should announce immediately to mitigate the 'serious threat', which they argue warrants 'emergency action' from state officials. One of those cybersecurity experts, DR. DUNCAN BUELL, Chair Emeritus in Computer Science and Engineering at University of South Carolina, explains the threat to election security posed by the software theft, and why Sec. Weber needs to take action now, before the results are tabulated, rather than waiting until after Election Day.
