On today's 'BradCast':\xa0 Eight of the nation's top cybersecurity and voting systems experts have called for the California Sec. of State to immediately mandate a statewide post-election Risk Limiting Audit for the California Gubernatorial Recall election, due to the threat that stolen voting system software poses to the integrity of the tally and voter confidence in the results. The rightwing majority on the Republicans' stolen and packed U.S. Supreme Court has issued three major, disturbing rulings without hearings, oral argument, debate, public oversight, or even full explanation from the rightwing justices - - part of a dramatic increase in the court's use of the 'Shadow Docket' in between terms. One decision prevents President Biden from setting U.S. immigration policy. Another blocked the President's moratorium on evictions amid the pandemic. The most disturbing ruling effectively overturns long-standing precedent of Roe v. Wade's constitutional protections protecting women's right to access abortion in Texas. Slate's ace legal reporter Mark Joseph Stern explains the three rulings and the impact of the increasingly authoritarian, activist rightwing justices on the Court that have slashed decades of jurisprudence and protocol to overturn established precedents, their hypocritical use of the 'shadow docket' to block Biden's exercise of policy authority that they excused under former President Trump, and their blatant dismantling of decades of court precedent in allowing the Texas abortion ban to take effect without any judicial review or hearings. Stern explains Congressional solutions that could rein in the out-of-control Court and its 'shadow docket' run wild, and warns that the next SCOTUS term is likely to deliver even more bad news for freedom and civil rights.
