Also today:\xa0 Hurricane Laura is aiming for the Texas-Louisiana border, likely as a powerful Category 3 storm, during a pandemic. A Florida judge puts the brakes on Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis' demand that all public schools must open for in-person instruction regardless of local coronavirus conditions.\xa0 A Trump-appointed federal judge forced the Trump Campaign and Republican Party to make fools of themselves in Pennsylvania, where they are suing to prevent the use of secure absentee ballot drop-boxes \u2013 the Republicans were unable to present any evidence, as demanded by the judge, to support their claim that secure drop-boxes would increase voter fraud.
