Congressional Democrats, however, have not yet made a campaign issue out of the threat that democracy itself now faces in America from Donald Trump and his anti-democracy Republican Party. But voters are catching on to the threat - - new polling finds that a plurality of Americans now say that democracy is the 'most important issue facing the country.' With just 78 days to go to the Nov. 8, 2022 midterm elections, a new Fox 'News' poll finds that Congressional Democrats' election forecast is improving in these decidedly UN-conventional times, due to better economic conditions and the US Supreme Court ruling overturning reproductive rights for women, although it's still an uphill climb in the gerrymandered House. Also today:\xa0 In South Carolina, a Republican state lawmaker emotionally expressed regret for his vote to severely restrict abortion after learning of its devastating, real-world impacts. A federal appeals court gave Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) a temporary reprieve from his scheduled testimony before a Georgia grand jury in Trump's attempt to steal Georgia's 2020 election. A different appeals court ruled that the Justice Department must release a secret memo detailing why then-Attorney General Bill Barr refused to charge Trump for 10 instances of obstruction of justice in Robert Mueller's Special Counsel investigation into Russia's interference in the 2016 election.
