On today's 'BradCast':\xa0 Despite famously condemning those who 'plead the Fifth', disgraced former President Donald Trump repeatedly invoked his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination in a deposition related to the New York Attorney General's civil probe of bank, tax and insurance fraud allegations against him and his company. The deposition comes after the FBI executed a search warrant at Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida in what initial reporting suggests may be a criminal investigation. Despite the lack of any confirmed facts about the court-approved search, rightwing media and Republicans have vociferously condemned it with increasingly inflammatory rhetoric.\xa0 George Washington University Law Prof. RANDALL D. ELIASON, former Asst. U.S. Attorney and chief of the Justice Department's Public Corruption/Government Fraud section, offers helpful insight and analysis into both of these cases, separating the speculation from the facts. Eliason explains key aspects of the law and criminal procedure in the two different cases, what is known and not known, what may happen moving forward, and what it all means for the rule of law.\xa0 Also today:\xa0 noteworthy results from Tuesday's primary elections in Connecticut, Minnesota, Vermont and Wisconsin. Many Trump- endorsed candidates - - all of whom are 2020 election deniers - - won their GOP nominations for critical state offices. If they win in 2022, they would be in positions likely to be critical during the 2024 Presidential election.
