It's remarkable that Democrats and the mainstream corporate media have allowed Republicans to get away with claiming to be "conservatives,\u201d because the stories we cover today prove that whenever and wherever the GOP takes the reins of government, their actions belie their false claims of supporting \u201cstates rights,\u201d \u201csmall government\u201d and local control. First up, global warming-intensified, deadly extreme weather is wreaking havoc around the world, shattering records across the Northern Hemisphere, from Greece to Japan to Europe and the US. The Trump Administration plans to challenge right of the state of California to set its own vehicle fuel efficiency standards, established nearly fifty years ago under the federal Clean Air Act.\xa0 In Texas, so-called "conservatives" are using Big Government state law to block efforts by local city governments and voters to establish their own rules for paid sick-leave for workers. Some 40 percent of Texas workers are currently prevented from taking a paid day off when either they or their children get sick. The state's Big Government-loving Governor Greg Abbott and Attorney General Ken Paxton oppose the city measures, just as they have in the past when voters in local jurisdictions have attempted to ban fracking, raise minimum wage requirements or even ban plastic bags. Voters still have a chance to vote the liars and hypocrites out of office this November, but they will have to turn out AND be allowed to cast their vote: a new analysis finds that states with a history of racial discrimination are purging voters from the rolls at a record pace, without their knowledge. Finally, a number of ballot measures to end partisan gerrymandering are likely to be on the ballot this November -- unless so-called "conservative" Republicans manage to block successful, bi-partisan grassroots initiatives in states like Michigan, Missouri and Utah...
