On today's 'BradCast':\xa0 What the hell is up with Republicans and election fraud in Michigan?! But it's not only in Michigan. In upstate New York, a Republican city councilwoman pleaded guilty to submitting multiple fraudulent absentee ballots last year. But the criminal probe has now expanded, revealing a whole bunch of apparent Republican criming going on in several New York counties, underscoring that while Republicans routinely accuse Democrats of fraud, Republicans seem to be doing it themselves. In Michigan, Ryan Kelley, a Republican candidate for governor who was disqualified because his campaign submitted thousands of forged petition signatures, was arrested and charged by federal officials on Thursday for his role in the January 6, 2021 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. In a separate case in Michigan, a GOP petition drive to get a voter suppression measure on the ballot is also full of fraudulent forged signatures. But the scheme gets slimier: thanks to a loophole in MI state law, once a citizen's initiative qualifies for the ballot, the GOP-controlled state legislature can immediately pass it into law with a simple, veto-proof majority vote.\xa0 NANCY WANG, Executive Director of the non-partisan, pro-democracy group Voters Not Politicians, explains the various shenanigans and loopholes in state law that allow petition signature gatherers to lie to voters, and gives the GOP state legislature power to do an end-run around voters and the citizen initiative process to sneak in new draconian voter suppression laws. Wang says, 'It's about dishonesty. It's about misleading voters. It's about trying to game the system of citizens' petitions.' Plus Desi Doyen has our latest 'Green News Report.'
