In the wake of this week's terror attack at Turkey's Ataturk Airport in Istanbul, the presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump calls for the U.S. to once again implement torture policies such as waterboarding, despite the fact that it is recognized across the world as a war crime. In the meantime, new polling shows Trump's support outside of the U.S. is dismal, often in single digits, while back here at home, he remains in a close race nationally with presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. Clinton's favorability ratings also remain dismal, although not as bad as Trump's.\xa0 Yet, as Bernie Sanders supporters begin to coalesce around Clinton, representatives for the two rivals hash out the party's official platform document to be voted on by delegates at the Democratic National Convention in July. Salon political reporter Ben Norton joins us to discuss progress of the talks, the Clinton camp's refusal to allow a demand for a federal $15/hour minimum wage in the non-binding party manifesto, and the refusal by Clinton surrogates to agree to more progressive language on everything from Israel to fracking. Norton argues that the conflict suggests the Democratic Party, ultimately, cannot be reformed from within, and that it will require candidates at the local level to take up the fight, perhaps under a completely different party name.\xa0 Finally,\xa0 more calls for 'Texit'!
