Climate change continues to ravage Americans and take lives in the east and west, with historic deadly flooding in West Virginia 'coal country' and out-of-control wildfires in bone dry Southern California. Also today, the U.S. Supreme Court handed down several major decisions on this, the last day of their session. Surprisingly, many of them were good news for progressives! The biggest decision concerned abortion rights in Texas, where the Court struck down Republican laws meant to shut down women's health clinics under the guise of 'safety'. The Court saw through the con, and the decision could result in the overturning of similar "TRAP laws" elsewhere. Also, the right for states to restrict the possession of guns by domestic abusers was upheld, as was a new rule by the U.S. Labor Department concerning overtime payments to home healthcare workers. In an unusual unanimous ruling by the Court, VA's former Republican Governor Bob McDonnell saw his bribery conviction overturned. Will that decision have any effect on AL's former Democratic Governor Don Siegelman, who is now serving his 6th year in federal prison for having done far less than McDonnell was found guilty of having done? And, finally, last week's 'Brexit' vote continues to wreak havoc:\xa0 world financial markets continue to plunge, the British government is in disarray about how (or, perhaps, even, IF) to officially begin the formal procedures to leave the EU, and voters express 'bregret' over having voted to leave. All of that and much more on today's 'BradCast'!
