'BradCast' 5/7/2019: (Climate and Constitutional Crises Continue to Deepen)

On today's 'BradCast', from Constitutional Crisis to Climate Crisis:\xa0 The rogue Trump Administration stunned fellow Arctic Council members in Finland on Monday when the U.S. refused to sign an agreement because of a dispute over wording acknowledging climate change is a threat, and Sec. of State Mike Pompeo gave a speech in which he appeared giddy over opportunities for plunder of natural resources in the quickly melting Arctic. Donald Trump stunned legal and military experts with the pardon of a former U.S. Army lieutenant court-martialed for murdering an Iraqi civilian. Trump has moved from pardoning those who obstruct justice, like disgraced former Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio, to granting clemency to murderous war criminals. Without a hint of irony, Attorney General William Barr's Justice Department announced it had charged a Virginia man on counts of "obstructing a federal investigation and making multiple false statements to FBI officials." 500 former Republican and Democratic federal prosecutors have now signed onto an open letter charging that, based on the evidence revealed in the redacted Mueller Report, Trump would have been indicted on multiple counts of obstruction had he been a private citizen. With multiple Constitutional showdowns escalating between the Administration and Congress, including Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin's refusal to turn over Trump's tax returns as required by law and Barr's refusal to respond to a lawful Congressional subpoena, we look back at House Republicans in 2012 insisting on a contempt vote against then-Attorney General Eric Holder. The White House has blocked former White House Counsel Don McGahn from turning over subpoenaed documents and testifying to Congress, despite having already waived executive privilege.
