'BradCast' 5/23/2019 (Disaster, Relief, Another Bailout, Pardoning War Criminals and 'An Intervention for the Good of the Country')

On today's 'BradCast':\xa0 The Trump Justice Department announced new charges against WikiLeak's Julian Assange for publishing classified materials -- a serious threat to First Amendment press freedoms. US Senate agrees to a long-delayed $19 billion disaster relief bill (which Trump had held up for months) to assist victims of extreme weather disasters in several states and Puerto Rico \u2013 without including the White House's request for more border money. The Trump Administration announced another $16 billion in bailouts for U.S. farmers -- on top of $11 billion handed out last year -- to compensate for Trump's trade war with China, which has roiled markets and hit Trump supporters in farm country particularly hard. Trump appears to be coming more unglued by the day: he attacked his former Sec. of State Rex Tillerson as "'dumb as a rock' after Tillerson suggested in testimony to Congress this week that Trump was embarrassingly unprepared for a 2017 meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who charged on Wednesday that Trump was "engaged in a cover-up," suggested at her weekly press conference that Trump is too unstable to govern and "wish[ed] that his family or his Administration or his staff would have an intervention for the good of the country." Then Pelosi vowed that House Democrats are "not on a path to impeachment." Trump is reportedly considering pardoning convicted U.S. war criminals on Memorial Day, in a move that current and former service members warn insults his own military and undermines the military justice system.
