On today's 'BradCast':\xa0 The Republican Party is making it nearly impossible to avoid sleazy, tabloid sensationalism, due to a growing wave of cheap, tawdry new developments that go beyond their nationwide push to suppress Democratic-leaning voters in a democracy. The Trump Campaign was caught ripping off its own unwitting donors, siphoning off hundreds of millions of dollars with the use of sneaky, hard-to-see, pre-checked boxes on online donation forms that turned one-time donations into monthly and weekly withdrawals. The Republican Party itself has now been caught adopting the same sleazy tactic to rip-off, as well. The scandal embroiling Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), reportedly under investigation for alleged sex trafficking of a minor, took a new turn today when several outlets reported his close friend is cooperating with prosecutors. Alabama's Republican Sec. of State John Merrill, who went to the US Supreme Court to block officials from offering safer voting options during the pandemic, vehemently denied allegations of an extra-marital affair this week \u2013 until reporters confronted him with salacious taped phone calls, effectively ending his aspirations for an upcoming vacant US Senate seat. The tawdry episode caps years of bizarre interactions between Merrill and this show arising from our accurate reporting. Also today:\xa0 President Biden, characterizing America's epidemic of gun violence as a public health crisis, announced a number of new executive orders to improve gun safety, because Republicans have blocked all efforts to reform gun laws in the US Senate. Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin (WV) delivered some twisted, counterfactual reasons as to why he will not support to eliminate or weaken the filibuster, and may block further legislation from passing via the Senate's Budget Reconciliation rules.
