The President of the United States has no idea what he's doing, and is simply making up policy from minute to minute, with reports that White House aides are forced to scramble each day to either explain his actions "or clean them up." On Thursday, Trump reversed his position on the Trans-Pacific Partnership and floated rejoining it. Trump's erratic behavior poses a serious danger when it comes to sending the U.S. to war: Trump has flip-flopped on his Syria policy over the past week, from demanding the U.S. pull troops out of Syria within 48 hours, to publicly warning Syria's main ally Russia to "get ready" for incoming missiles, only to reverse yet again to announce a U.S. attack on the war-torn nation "could be very soon or not soon at all." Defense Secretary James Mattis conceded to lawmakers on Thursday that the Pentagon lacks evidence on an alleged chemical attack over the weekend against civilians in Syria. At the same time, in an eerie echo of the run-up to the U.S. war(s) against Iraq, NBC News reported unskeptically that unnamed "U.S. officials" claimed there were new samples \u201cfrom last Saturday's deadly attack in Syria that have tested positive for chemical weapons."\xa0 It's like deja vu all over again, but with countries like Russia and Iran already having declared that they are prepared to retaliate against any attack against the Syrian government by the U.S. or its allies. Also: Trump continues to lie about "voter fraud" in the 2016 election. A new study finds that voters in areas with less access to local news tended to favor Trump in the 2016 election, while those with more access to more news sources voted in higher proportion for Hillary Clinton. As public push-back builds against the proposed expansion of rightwing Sinclair Broadcasting Group into 72% of American households, the pro-Trump broadcast behemoth is revealed to be using the public airwaves to lie about the mounting criticism against their practices.
