On today's 'BradCast': The New York Times finally figures out they've been duped by Trump Attorney General William Barr's 4-page summary of Special Counsel Robert Mueller's long-awaited report; the paper now confirms that Mueller's report runs 300+ pages. Trump and his cult-member Republicans in Congress and on Fox News are still parroting the NYT's initial false headlines about the report. Barr's summary should have been viewed much more skeptically by "the paper of record" and many others in the corporate media. Ongoing fallout from that irresponsible coverage: Trump and Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee demanded the resignation of Chairman Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA). Schiff is (appropriately) having none of it. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) held a sham stunt vote earlier this week on the landmark Green New Deal resolution proposed by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA), which calls for a wartime-like mobilization to transition the U.S. economy away from fossil fuels while creating millions of jobs and ensuring a just transition for fossil fuel industry workers like coal miners, with funding for job training and protection of their pensions and healthcare from bankrupt, predator coal companies. But instead of offering their own solutions, Republicans mocked the Green New Deal \u2013 especially Sen. Mike Lee's (R-UT) in an embarrassingly unfunny speech. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) punched back. In the House, Ocasio-Cortez delivered an epic takedown of Republicans' claims that parents wanting clean air and water for their children is "an elitist fantasy." Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Big Coal have conspired to allow the expiration of a tax on coal that funds healthcare for coal miners with terminal black lung disease, which is surging again, but coal industry owners don't want the life-saving, lapsed tax renewed.
