On today's 'BradCast':\xa0 Our special coverage continues today, as House Impeachment Managers completed their opening arguments in Donald Trump's second Senate Impeachment trial. They presented a damning, meticulous point-by-point case detailing Trump's months-long incitement of the murderous January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol, and pre-butted expected arguments from the former president's defense team. But despite the hard, persuasive evidence of Trump's long-planned attempt to steal the election, most GOP senators say they are still likely to vote against conviction. Foolishly, cowardly Republican Senators don't seem to recognize their opportunity to neutralize the only real superpower that Trump now has left:\xa0 his control over the party thanks to his ability to run again in 2024, as Brad explains today.\xa0 House Managers noted that Trump still refuses to admit that he lost the 2020 election, and that his Big Lie threatens national security; has cost the federal government nearly half a billion dollars for Capitol security; and has harmed national security and America's standing in the world, with China, Russia and Iran dismissing the promise of Constitutional democracy. They warned that if the Senate fails to convict and bar Trump from holding future office, the chances are very good that he or a future president will repeat his deadly, authoritarian tactics and incite insurrection to hold on to power. They also debunked false claims about the First Amendment free speech clause, noting it does not protect incitement of violence.
