While Trump was handed a resounding loss on his Muslim immigration ban by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, his other Executive Orders on immigration move forward nonetheless, resulting in the deportation of an undocumented married mother of two U.S.-born children this week. We cover both his federal court thumping and the real-life impacts of his extreme immigration policy today. We're joined by guest Maria Castro of People United for Justice, who was arrested in Phoenix this week along with other supporters of\xa0 36-year old Guadalupe Garcia de Rayos, who was deported to Mexico on Thursday after coming to the U.S. when she was 14 years old. Castro, an American-born citizen, describes how she and her family find themselves in a similar situation with her own undocumented immigrant mother. She discusses her effort to help Garcia de Rayos, and criticizes the mayor of Phoenix, who has been outspoken against the deportation, but, she charges, has helped to facilitate it in a number of ways. Castro, who successfully organized to defeat controversial Maricopa County (Phoenix) Sheriff Joe Arpaio last November, describes the mixed feelings in her community after Arpaio lost but Trump won, the mood among those now threatened by Trump's policies, and how they plan to fight (along with your support). Finally, in the middle of the night, Republicans in the U.S. Senate confirmed Tom Price, Trump's nominee to head Health and Human Services, despite allegations of insider stock trading and more, and racists across the country are celebrating the confirmation of new U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
