On today's 'BradCast':\xa0 The three white men who murdered 25-year old black jogger Ahmaud Arbery in Georgia have been sentenced to life in prison. In Arizona, the buffoonish, rightwing conspiracy con-men calling themselves 'Cyber Ninjas' have shut down their company after a state judge fined them $50,000 a day for refusing to hand over public documents regarding their pretend 'audit' of Maricopa County's 2020 presidential election. Former President Jimmy Carter warned in a NYT op-ed that he now fears for the survival of our democracy, citing the January 6 insurrection and Republican politicians who have 'leveraged the distrust they have created to enact laws that empower partisan legislatures to intervene in election processes,' warning that 'strongman politicians' threaten to 'collapse the foundations of our security and democracy with breathtaking speed,' and much more. Ronald Reagan's U.S. Solicitor General, Charles Fried, warns that he now sees rising in the U.S. the same 'demons of hell' that destroyed democracy in his birth country, Czechoslovakia. DR. NILS GILMAN of the Berggruen Institute discusses his L.A. Times op-ed warning about 'the runaway train of illiberalism' that is now bearing down on American democracy, and that 'the need to act could not be more urgent'. Gilman details specific actions that ordinary citizens who oppose such fascist takeovers of our democracy can and must do now at the state and local level to counter such forces, before the 2022 midterm elections and the 2024 Presidential election.
