Lead House Manager Adam Schiff characterized the defense offered by the White House Counsel's team on Thursday as "a descent into Constitutional madness" and "the normalization of lawlessness." On Wednesday, Trump's defense attorney Alan Dershowitz made the extraordinary argument that is fine for a President to solicit a foreign power for help win an election (which is a violation of the law), as long as he or she believes it was in the best national interest for him or her to be elected. ANN RAVEL, former Chair of the Federal Election Commission who joins us today, describes that as "insane."\xa0 Ravel, currently running for a California State Senate seat, offers alarming insights and a grim assessment of the many ways that the Trump White House lawyers are undermining U.S. campaign finance laws, warning, "This is like sending a flare up indicating it's open season for illegality in our electoral process."
