The Dept. of Energy announced a major scientific breakthrough in nuclear fusion technology, which holds the promise of virtually unlimited, carbon-free energy - - and fossil fuel shills already seem to be freaking out about it. New economic data show that U.S. gasoline prices have fallen back to last year's levels and inflation is easing. But Republicans who falsely blamed President Biden for both spiking gas prices and inflation have suddenly fallen silent. In the 2022 election, incumbent Republican nut Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) won re-election over her Democratic challenger by a razor-thin margin. Because the Republican won, no one sent death threats to election officials in response. In Massachusetts, a recount flipped a state legislative race from GOP to Dem by a single vote. In Pennsylvania, Democratic control of the statehouse hangs in the balance amid a confusing legislative mess. Overall, it was an extraordinary, historic midterm election for a party controlling Congress and the White House, with Democrats retaining their US Senate majority, flipping a number of state legislative chambers from red to blue, and increasing the number of states with trifecta Democratic control.
