The state of Wisconsin officially began it's 'recount' of some 3 million ballots cast in the 2016 Presidential election today. Unfortunately, several of the largest jurisdictions have decided to simply re-tally those paper ballots by the same optical-scan computers -- but as a host of experts in computer science, security and voting systems continue to argue (including in recently filed court documents), the only way to know for certain how voters voted is to hand-count those ballots. Meanwhile, in Michigan, the Trump Campaign has filed an objection to Green Party candidate Jill Stein's request for a 'recount'. That legal maneuver successfully delays the start of counting, which had been scheduled to begin on Friday, until sometime next week. That's a disturbing development, since all states are federally mandated to certify final numbers by December 13th. At the same time, Donald Trump continues to lie about 'millions' of illegal votes having been cast in the 2016 election, and millions of his brain-addled supporters are buying it, thanks to many years of irresponsible reporting by corporate media. And yet, so far, the only 'illegal' votes that have been found in the 2016 election -- four to date -- were all cast by Republicans. Finally, as we have reported on high profile Republicans committing actual voter fraud (hello Ann Coulter and Mitt Romney!), Trump has hired a voter fraud criminal for a top White House advisory role.
