Another tragic and bloody weekend in the U.S. \xa0as yet another gun massacre unfolded, this time at a church during Sunday services in the tiny Texas town of Sutherland Springs. Again, Republican lawmakers and Texas state officials offered "thoughts and prayers" but \u2013 again -- suggested there was little they could do to stop the ongoing epidemic of gun violence in the country. Donald Trump, now on a trip to Asia, claimed guns are not the problem, and blamed \u2018mental health issues' instead -- in stark contrast to the very specific immigration policy proposals he promoted within hours of last week's truck terror attack in New York City. Despite the shooter's criminal history of domestic violence, he was able to purchase semi-automatic weapons in Texas. \xa0We cover the latest breaking news in the case, as well as some of the Democratic responses, and the tens of millions of dollars that Trump and Republican lawmakers have received from the terrorist-enabling NRA lobbying on behalf of the arms industry. Meanwhile, Trump is continuing to play \u2018tough guy' on his trip to Asia, expressing frustration over Japan's \u2018failure' to shoot down North Korean missile tests, displaying ignorance about Japan's post-WWII constitution, and revealing he has apparently been given some very misleading information about the capabilities \xa0(and lack thereof) of U.S. defensive missile interceptor systems, even as he announced plans to sell millions of dollars in U.S. weapons to Japan.
