On today's 'BradCast':\xa0 There is much to be concerned about between now and the Nov. 8 midterm elections, the first nationwide elections since Donald Trump tried to steal the 2020 Presidential Election. Republican-controlled states have since exploited Trump's torrent of lies about the election to enact even more restrictive voter suppression laws. There's a shortage of pollworkers following death threats from disinformed rightwingers, and new incidents are raising concerns about the potential for intimidation and violence at polling places. But Election Defenders is organizing to ensure everyone can vote freely and fairly. ANGELA PEOPLES, Campaign Director for Election Defenders, explains how the organization is mobilizing across the country, particularly in battleground states, to train volunteers in de-escalation techniques at polling places and in concrete ways to support voters who may be intimidated by fear-based tactics of rightwing groups or targeted by partisan pollwatchers. The group is welcoming volunteers to ensure voters have the information and assistance they need, no voter is denied their right to cast a ballot, and that voting is a calm, joyful experience. Also today: Donald Trump crony Steve Bannon was sentenced to 4 months in prison for defying a lawful Congressional subpoena. The House January 6 Committee subpoenaed Trump to testify under oath. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) has filed an appeal with the U.S. Supreme Court after an appeals court ordered\xa0 him to testify in the Fulton County, Georgia probe of Trump's conspiracy to pressure election officials to falsify 2020 election results. Trump appears to have screwed up his own defense in a defamation case brought by writer E. Jean Carroll.
