Guillermo Mart\\xednez\\xa0is an Argentine novelist, detective fiction and short story\\xa0writer. He earned a PhD in mathematical logic from the University of Buenos Aires, after which he worked for two years in a postdoctoral position at the\\xa0Mathematical Institute, in\\xa0Oxford. His most successful novel is Cr\\xedmenes Imperceptibles\\xa0known as\\xa0The Oxford Murders, written in 2003. He was awarded the Planeta Prize for this novel, which was adapted into a\\xa0film\\xa0in 2008, directed by\\xa0Alex de la Iglesia, and starring\\xa0John Hurt and\\xa0Elijah Wood.

We met in his apartment in Buenos Aires to discuss how mathematics and Borges have informed his novel and detective fiction writing.
