Bernie reacts to Mike Shildt's comments he made to Bob Nightengale in a story that was released Thursday. Bernie says while he empathizes with Shildt, at the end of the day he proved that the manager only can push back so far before losing his job. Bernie compares Shildt's firing to the dismissal of Walt Jocketty in 2007. Bernie also offers up the tale of Howard Hilton in 1990 as reason not to put too much stock into spring training stats.
