Brian’s frustrated by having Justin as a houseguest. He asks if Justin wouldn’t be more comfortable somewhere else. Justin doesn’t want Lilian to think she’s driven him out of the village. He thinks things will die down soon once she’s come to her senses. He asks Brian to reconsider bidding for the land, sighting benefits he would get as a BL shareholder. Brian counters he would benefit more by utilising the land for Home Farm’s sustainable future.

Later Brian asks Lilian to bury the hatchet with Justin, explaining that whatever’s happened Justin genuinely loves her. Lilian says he’s behaved completely unacceptably and wants nothing more to do with him. Brian wonders if they can meet on neutral ground and sort things out. Lilian feels she has nothing to apologise for if that’s what he’s expecting.

Later on at the auction both Justin and Brian are outbid by a telephone buyer for five-hundred and forty-thousand pounds.
As people are leaving Lilian and Justin find themselves alone and Justin asks Lilian if she has calmed down and is ready to come home. He thinks that even though they disagree sometimes, they’re wonderful together. Lilian tells him that was the case but not anymore. Justin says if Lilian can agree that she was at fault over the arena, then they can get back to planning a lovely Christmas. But Lilian feels Justin’s let her down very badly and she can’t forgive him for it. He’s broken her trust and if he is expecting an apology from her he will be waiting a long time.
