On 15 November 1992, the New York Times printed a \u2018Lexicon of Grunge\u2019, a list of slang terms from the Seattle music scene. \u2018Harsh realm\u2019 = bummer. \u2018Wack slacks\u2019 = old ripped jeans. \u2018Swingin\u2019 on the flippity-flop\u2019 = hanging out. Not familiar with any of these? It\u2019s OK, that\u2019s not because you\u2019re a cob nobbler (= loser). They were all made up.
