“Listener Beware”

Warning

Jim released his final installment of a three-part series

this month. As a corporate chaplain, Jim works on a permission-based standing.

Here’s your “buyer beware warning.” This is a talk about Jesus Christ, and if

you don’t want to listen, don’t listen.

“I just want to give a listener warning. If you are a person who is not interested in faith or offended by faith, we’re going to talk about this person, Jesus Christ.”

Who is Jesus?

That’s the question Jim tackles in his messages. He is God,

but he came to Earth as a servant. The tone of his presence, the posture he

presented the world with was not that of an oppressive king, but that of a meek

and gentle servant.

“Can you imagine, God came to serve us? That’s the battery in the flashlight that makes it shine. That’s the gas in the tank that makes it run. That is the power that gives us the ability to serve.”

Quotes

* “He didn’t cease to be God. But, he gave up his

rights as God.”* “Whenever we come into a room or leave a room…

there’s a tone or something that we leave as a residue of our personality and

how we approach things. Some people are amenable… Other people are very

in-your-face. But, how did Jesus Christ come to this planet?”* “Can you imagine, God came to serve us? That’s

the battery in the flashlight that makes it shine. That’s the gas in the tank

that makes it run. That is the power that gives us the ability to serve.”* “He got a handkerchief that one of the girls had,

and he’s tenderly wiping the tears off of her eyes as she’s sharing her vows

with him. Here you have this guy with all this brute strength, and what do we

admire about him? He’s got strength, but he’s being gentle. And this is the

message of Jesus Christ.”* “Tip your server. Return your shopping cart.

Pick up a piece of trash. Hold the door for the person behind you. Let someone

in your lane. Small acts have a ripple effect. That’s how we change the world.”

– Wayne McPherson* “The ripple effect started with the tone of

Jesus Christ. It ripples into our heart. It ripples out. We change the world

one act at a time because we respond to him.”
