In this episode, we welcome Jaime Valente and Willis Dunbar of the Teaneck Community Charter Education Association. \xa0Jaime is a music teacher and the local association president, and Willis is a 5th and 6th-grade social studies teacher.
About Our Guests
Willis Dunbar, a 5th & 6th grade Social Studies teacher of eleven years at the Teaneck Community Charter School, recognized a disparity between specific demographic groups in regard to academic achievement. As Willis continued further research, he decided to create a program that addressed the achievement gap through mentorship. This program would be called J.U.M.P. which stands for Junior Uplift Mentorship Program. He is a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University where he received his Bachelors in English and his MAT in Secondary Education. Willis is also an Association Representative for TCCS' \xa0Upper School teachers.
Jaime Valente is the Director of Performing Arts at the Teaneck Community Charter School in Teaneck, NJ where he serves as classroom music instructor, vocal coach, and musical theatre director. He is a graduate of Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ where he earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Education, a Master of Education in Teacher Leadership, and a Supervisor\u2019s Certification.
Jaime is also an Organizational Development Consultant with the New Jersey Education Association. Jaime serves as a representative on the NJEA Public Charter School Members Workgroup and is the founding President of the Teaneck Community Charter Education Association.
